Workshops that help women understand their bodies — and build resilience for the lives they’re living

My workshops connect the dots between hormones, digestion, nutrition, stress, and the demands of everyday life, helping women better understand why they feel the way they do. Each session pairs that understanding with practical tools to support energy, capacity, and wellbeing in ways that feel realistic and sustainable.

Available for yoga and wellness studios, schools, workplaces, community organizations, and municipalities.

What’s Going on With My Gut?

A practical workshop on women’s digestion, hormones, stress, and the everyday factors that influence how we feel in our bodies.

Bloating. Constipation. Feeling uncomfortably full after eating. Suddenly reacting to foods that never used to bother you. Digestion can feel confusing — especially when the advice seems to be either “eat more fibre” or start removing foods.

This workshop helps women understand what may actually be happening underneath their symptoms.

Rather than handing participants another list of things they “should” be doing, we start with how digestion works and connect that understanding to realistic strategies they can use in everyday life.

Participants will explore:

  • What bloating and abdominal distension actually are — and why the difference matters

  • How digestive motility works and what can contribute to constipation

  • How stress and the nervous system can change digestion

  • How hormones and perimenopause can influence the gut

  • The role of meal patterns, fibre, movement, hydration, and everyday routines

  • How to notice patterns in their own body and make more informed decisions about what to try next

No detoxes. No endless food restriction. No expectation that everyone’s body needs the same thing.

The goal is for women to leave understanding their digestion better and feeling more confident about what their body may be asking for.

A better way to approach women’s health education

Most women already have a long list of things they’ve been told they “should” be doing for their health.

What’s often missing is understanding why.

My workshops start with body literacy. I break down what’s happening physiologically in a way that feels approachable, connect the dots between symptoms and everyday life, and then translate that understanding into practical next steps.

Women understand the “why.”

I teach enough physiology for participants to understand what may be happening in their bodies — rather than simply giving them another list of health rules.

Education becomes action.

Each workshop connects what we’re learning to practical strategies around nutrition, movement, recovery, daily routines, or self-advocacy.

Women’s health is looked at as a whole.

Hormones, digestion, sleep, stress, nutrition, movement, and life stage don’t exist in isolation. My workshops help women understand how those pieces can interact.

Real life is part of the conversation.

The goal isn’t perfect routines. Recommendations are designed for full calendars, demanding jobs, families, different capacities, and actual human lives.

My goal is for women to leave feeling more informed, more confident in understanding their own bodies, and more empowered to advocate for themselves — able to trust their experiences, ask better questions, and take an active role in their health.

Bring women’s health education to your community

Workshops can be adapted to fit your audience, setting, and schedule. Whether you’re looking for a Lunch & Learn, a longer educational session, or a workshop that combines health education with movement, each experience is designed to make women’s health easier to understand and apply.

Available for studios, schools, workplaces, and community organizations.

Meet your facilitator

Hi, I’m Sophia.

I’m a Women’s Hormone Practitioner and RYT-200 yoga teacher, and the founder of The Karuna Movement.

My work focuses on helping women understand the connections between hormones, digestion, nutrition, stress, movement, and everyday health.

I created these workshops because women are surrounded by health information but are rarely given the context they need to understand what actually applies to their own bodies.

My teaching style is conversational, evidence-informed, and practical. I want women to understand enough about their bodies that they can connect the dots, recognize patterns, ask better questions, and make health decisions from a more informed place.

I host women’s health workshops and community conversations in Port Moody and throughout the Tri-Cities, alongside my private women’s health coaching practice.
